The
Maine QSO Party continues to grow in popularity, with nationwide and
international challengers submitting logs. National winners include
Manuel Antonio Pires CT1ELZ, for Portugal, Bo Cedwall SM5NQB for
Sweden, and of course, Joe Blinick K1JB, for the United States.
Winners
per state outside of Maine, include Andrew Falkenstern N9NBC
(Wisconsin), Robert Shroeder K5KPE (Arkansas), Lawrence Wandrel AH6AX
(Maryland), Ellen Griffith KX4FR (Tennesee), Stephen Wurm KE3ZT
(Pennsylvania), Kenneth Newman N2CQ (New Jersey), Salli Rosato
K2RYD (New York),
Cyrus Anderson W4LID (Kentucky), Michael White K7ULS (Utah), John
Calnan W7JKC (Washington), Marcia Stockton NN0U (Colorado), Joseph
Wehner W8KNO (Ohio), Michael Kroh NW7E (Oregon), Robert Hensey K4VBM
(Florida), John Laney K4BAI (Georgia), and Ethan Handwerker N1SOH
(Massachusetts).
The
overall Maine and Cumberland County winner was Joe Blinick K1JB. Other
county winners include, John Huffman K1ESE (Oxford County), and
Stefania Watson K1GJY (York County).
The categories were won
by Andrew Falkenstern N9NBC (Single Operator QRP), Robert Schroeder
K5KPE (Single Operator Low Power), Joe Blinick K1JB (Single Operator
High Power), and Ethan Handwerker N1SOH (Multi Operator Low Power).
The
most accurate logs (with over 10 QSO's), include those submitted by
W1CPS, K1ESE, K1JB, N9NBC, and K1GJY. On average only 2% of all logs
included errors such as miscopied calls and unmatched QSO's.
One
thing we noticed, while examining the logs, was a significant amount of
log entries that ONLY included QSOs with Maine stations. The rules
allow all QSOs during the contest period to be scored, as long as a
proper exchange is made between the two stations. This means many of
the entrants would've had significantly higher scores had they included
their other QSOs.
Two logging programs were primarily used to submit logs this year.
These include N1MM with the ME QSO Party update, and N3FLP.
Once again, congratulations to all the winners, and we look forward to
hearing from you again next year!
