For
the third year in a
row, the contest saw nationwide and international challengers, with
logs coming
in from as far away as Poland. Continental winners include
multi-time contestant Jorge
Sierra LR1A, for South America, Jack Fitzsimons G4JFS, for Europe, and
Joseph Blinick K1JB, for North America.
National winners
include Stanislaw
Dzwoniarski SP6JOE, for Poland, Bengt Thorbjornsson SE5L,
and Bo Cedwall SM5NQB, for Sweden, Jack Fitzsimons G4JFS, for
England, Jorge Sierra LR1A, for Argentina, Pierre Jolin
VE2GT,
for Canada, and Joe Blinick, K1JB, for
the United States.
In the Categories, Charlie Shepard W1CPS took the top spot in Single
Operator Low Power,
with fellow Mainer and Hancock County winner Tom Clements K1TC, coming
in second. David Edmonds, of South Carolina, took the top prize for Single Operator QRP,
while last year's winner Tom Warren K3TW, of Florida, came in second.
Overall winner, Jow Blinick K1JB, continued his streak by winning Single
Operator High Power, with Patrick Sonnier W5WMU, of
Louisianna taking runner-up in the category and the overall.
The
most
accurate logs (with over 10 QSO's), include those submitted by W1WMG,
W1CPS, WN4AFP, KD8HAM, W7KAM, K5KPE, VE2GT, K1TC, and KB1HNZ. On
average only 4% of all logs
included
errors such as miscopied calls and unmatched QSO's.
Three logging programs were primarily used to submit logs this year.
These include Scott Davis' N3FJP
Maine QSO Party Contest Log, N1MM
with the ME QSO Party update,
and EI5DI's SD
log.
Once again, congratulations to all the winners, and we look forward to
hearing from you again next year!

Solar
- Terrestrial Conditions during the contest: SFI: 110, SN: 148,
A-Index: 8 K-Index: 2. According to the K7RA Solar Update,
the daily sunspot number moved up from 66.9 for the week of September
10-16, to 73 for the period of the contest. The largest solar event of
the period was a geomagnetic disturbance due to a coronal mass ejection
at the end of the day on September 20, which indicated possible aurora
and a high level of absorption for HF signals, but this condition
improved by September 26-27. |
