air, and we're proud that he represented Maine for almost the entire 24

The
contest saw nationwide and international challengers, with logs coming
in from as far away as Australia. Continental winners included David
Burger, VK2CZ, from St. Leonards, NSW, for Australia, Stefania Chiruta,
YP9L, from Valea Calugareasca, Romania for Europe, and of course,
Joseph Blinick, K1JB, for North America.
National Winners
include DL7FB (Germany), VE5BCS (Canada), VK2CZ (Australia), UA3AGW
(Russia), SP2RIQ (Poland), YP9L (Romania), and SM5ALJ (Sweden).
Winners per state outside of Maine,
include KS4X (Tennesee), WB0IWG (North Dakota), WB6RAB (Florida), K9GDF
(Wisconsin), AJ0CM (Minnesota), KE6IUE (California), K9ELF (Indiana),
W8KNO (Ohio), W7ON (Arizona).
The overall Maine and Cumberland
County winner was K1JB. Other county winners include KB1YYC
(Androscoggin), and K1ESE (Oxford).
The categories were won by
Kenneth Griffith KS4X, for Single Operator QRP, Dakota Dumont KB1YYC,
for Single Operator Low Power, Joseph Blinick K1JB, for Single Operator
High Power, and Thom Watson W1WMG and Tim Watson
KB1HNZ, for
Multi Operator Single-Transmitter High Power.
The most
accurate logs (with over 10 QSO's), include those submitted by KB1YTR,
DL7FB, W1CPS, YP9L, and KB1HNZ. On average only 2% of all logs included
errors such as miscopied calls and unmatched QSO's.
One thing
we noticed, while examining the logs, was a large number of call signs
from newly licensed or upgraded hams, especially from the southern
states. The most prominent of these new prefixes were KK4 and KC1.
Two logging programs were primarily used to submit logs this year.
These include N1MM with the ME QSO Party update,
and EI5DI's SD
log. Both are available as a free download.
