The 2026 Maine 2 Meter FM Simplex Challenge was held on Saturday, March 14th, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. As in previous years, logs were submitted from across the state, reflecting the event’s continued growth in both participation and enthusiasm.

Several operators took to the road to maximize coverage. John Horton (KC1LSO) and Dakota Dumont (KB1YYC) operated as QRP mobiles, while John Owens (K1JO), Ian Myers (KC1TIQ), and the Watson team—Elliot (KC1WFL), Tim (KB1HNZ), and Stefania (K1GJY)—competed in the Medium Mobile category. Dakota and John covered a route spanning greater Portland to the Lewiston/Auburn area. John K1JO and Ian KC1TIQ focused on the Bangor region, traveling from Corinth to Holden and as far north as Charleston. Meanwhile, Elliot, Tim, and Stefania operated along a route from coastal York County through the Midcoast and west toward Lewiston—marking Elliot’s first contest. Additional notable mobile operators included Becky Rowe (W1LIC), Eric Emery (N1RXR), Wesley Linscott (AA1CX), and Taylor Ligay (KE2EBR).

As in past years, the medium-powered categories were the most competitive, followed closely by QRP. The QRP Mobile category resulted in a tie for first place between Dakota Dumont (KB1YYC) and John Horton (KC1LSO). In the Medium Mobile category, a three-way tie for third place was recorded between Elliot (KC1WFL), Tim (KB1HNZ), and Stefania (K1GJY) Watson.

Several stations appeared frequently across submitted logs, including WA1RES, KD1OM, KC1HBL, K1CMN, KC1LSO, KB1YYC, KC1TIQ, KB1HNZ, K1GJY, KC1WFL, AC1FB, KC1AMQ, and KB1ZLV. WA1RES operated from the Penobscot County Emergency Management Agency, contributing significantly to overall activity.
