The 2025 Maine 2 Meter FM Simplex Challenge took place Saturday, March 15th, from 12 PM to 4 PM. Similar to previous years, we received logs from across the state, with the contest continuing to grow in popularity.

John Horton KC1LSO, Dakota Dumont KB1YYC, and Taylor Ligay KE2EBR operated as QRP mobiles, while Evan Burns KC1CMV, and Tim (KB1HNZ) and Stefania (K1GJY) Watson operated as Medium Mobile. Waylon McDonald KC1HJN operated in the High Mobile category. Dakota and John covered a route that stretched from greater Portland to Augusta, while Evan traveled around the Bangor area, ranging from Corinth to Holden and as far North as Charleston. Tim and Stefania covered a route from coastal York County through the Mid Coast, and then west toward Lewiston.

Edward Ridolfi K1RID, operated portable from Mt. Agamenticus, in York, ME, and Stephen Jordan KD1OM, operated from the summit of Peaked Mountain, in Dixmont.

Similar to years past, the most popular and competitive categories were the medium-powered classes, followed by QRP, with QRP Mobile being a tie for first place between Dakota Dumont KB1YYC and John Horton KC1LSO, and Medium Mobile having a tie for second place between
Tim (KB1HNZ) and Stefania (K1GJY) Watson.

Some stations that appeared in many logs, include KD1OM, W1GF, KC1HBL, K1GUQ, KC1LSO, KB1YYC, N1DAE, KB1HNZ, K1GJY, K1RID, AC1FB, KC1AMQ, and KB1ZLV.
