WSSM COVID-19 UPDATE
Dear WSSM Members,
First
and foremost, I want to take this opportunity to let you know that
nothing is more important to us than your safety and well-being.
We understand that our
community has concerns during this uncertain
time. While keeping a close eye on reports and updates concerning the
coronavirus (COVID-19), the Wireless Society of Southern Maine remains
prepared to offer our communications skills to the service of the
community, including to our partners at the Cumberland
County Emergency
Management Agency,
and the National
Weather Service.
We recognize the elevated
concerns about the spread of coronavirus and
are taking a proactive approach to prioritizing the health and
well-being of our members and guests, who attend our Informal, Monthly,
and Emergency Communications Team meetings.
Given recent developments, we
will be suspending
all in-person meetings
until further notice.
We will make an effort to move meetings to an
on-air format and discuss this more in-depth this Thursday during the
regularly scheduled Meeting on
the Air,
which will be on the 147.090 (+ / 100.0 Hz) repeater, at 7PM.
We will continue to monitor
the situation and will heed any
recommendations set by the CDC and Governor over the next weeks. If
there is more information that we can share, we will communicate it to
you promptly.
Sincerely,
Tim Watson, KB1HNZ
